Drought felt at Sandia ski area

The drought has forced Sandia ski area to scale back this year, but it's not the slopes that aren't open - the resort hasn't been able to put as many people to work.
There are usually about 35 employees working the ski area, but with a lack of snow the company can only afford to hire about six.
Ski instructor Craig Nelson is one of the lucky ones.
“It's been beautiful, I mean the weather's been great but without the snow, what can you do,” Nelson said.
Nelson says now is a great time for beginners, but people just aren't turning out.
There's literally dust on the cash registers. Sandia Ski officials say they rely on locals renting gear and the locals aren't showing.
Officials say it's not too late. At this point in the season they still have chance to make up 70 percent of their revenue.
All they can do is hope and wait for more snow.
