Extreme cold temperatures will be hitting Albuquerque and other parts of New Mexico this weekend.

The Bernalillo County Office of Emergency Management wants to let people know about some weather prepping tips.

They said if traveling, have a weather kit with food, water, blankets and a shovel.

People indoors are encouraged to check their wood stove to make sure it's stocked and working. The county also asks for people to have their water pipes insulated if their exposed to the temperatures.

Lastly, the county asks that people keep their pets inside, especially at night. If they have to be outside, make sure the animals have warm shelter.
