Wild storm blows through area

A wild storm blew through Albuquerque with snow flurries Friday morning. Then it came through the Sandias and created a blizzard in the East Mountains.
Snow blew along the roads and plows tried to keep things clear for drivers. But the wind made for difficult drivers conditions due to poor visibility.
One woman from South Mountain talked about driving in the snow for the first time.
"My husband says you've gotta learn sometime, and watching the snow drift across the road, it looked like a snake. It was really fun," Amy Elmore said.
Another driver said he and his wife were headed east on 1-40 to Abilene, Texas.
"It wasn't slick yet, but who knows what it will be like further on. I thought this stuff was gonna stay west of us," Bill Jackson said.
Orlando Saavedra and his family were filling up on gas before traveling to Texas, too.
"I've got my cables. I've got my snow chains. I've got a 24 thing of water in case we get stuck at any time. We have snacks inside that we keep for the kids in case anything happens," he said.
The snow did not last very long, but frigid temperatures will linger in the East Mountains and throughout the state from this winter storm.
