NASA scientists say the so-called doomsday asteroid will not hit Earth.
The discovery was made thanks in part to a New Mexico school.
Asteroid Apophis was discovered in 2004. Scientists say it is the size of 3.5 football fields.
They initially said they believed it would hit Earth in the year 2036, but they announced Friday that won't happen.
Scientists reached that conclusion with the help of a telescope from New Mexico Tech in Socorro.
But mark your calendar April 13, 2029 for a good show. NASA says Apophis will come within 19,000 miles of our planet and will be visible from Earth.
