NMSU hires firm to help with president search

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico State University has hired a firm to help with its search for the school's next president.
KVIA-TV reports that NMSU announced this week that it has selected the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities to assist with the search.
NMSU Regents Chair Mike Cheney said using professional services offered by AGB would lend expertise to NMSU that cannot be replicated using other resources.
Cheney said that the firm will act as a consultant, but won't replace the responsibility of the presidential search committee.
Officials say the firm will be paid $90,000 for its services.
Former NMSU President Barbara Couture abruptly stepped down last year following a mysteriously administrative leave.
The school's executive vice president and provost Wendy Wilkins also stepped down.
