Albuquerque police shut down the Kmart parking lot off Carlisle Blvd. after an attempted robbery ended up as the scene of a shooting.

Police said a man who was shot tried to steal from the Kmart, and when one of the employees tried to confront him, he pulled a knife of them.

Police said the man got into a car and tried to drive away, but then a white Cadillac hit the car he was in.

The people in the Cadillac shot at the shoplifting suspect, police said.

They hit the man twice, but police say he is in stable condition.

The scene was cleared Sunday night.
