ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A high-profile fatal shooting by an Albuquerque officer has been ruled justified by a review panel.

The Albuquerque Journal  reports that the city police review commission concluded that Officer Byron "Trey" Economidy's Feb. 9, 2011 shooting of 29-year-old Jacob Mitschelen was justified.

The case drew national headlines after revelations that Economidy had listed his job description on Facebook as "human waste disposal."

Economidy said he shot Mitschelen as Mitschelen turned toward him with a gun in his hand.

The review board agreed with findings of the city's independent review officer, Robin Hammer, that Economidy did not violate the department's use-of-force policy.
