UPDATE: Suspicious powder found at VA Health Care System building

Albuquerque Fire Department's HAZMAT team is on the scene at the Veterans Administration Health Care System building on San Pedro after an envelope containing an unidentified white powder was opened.

According to authorities, approximately seven employees were in the room when the envelope was opened. VA police was immediately contacted, who in turn contacted the Albuquerque Fire Department.

None of the employees are currenly showing any signs of illness and the HAZMAT team is evaluating the situation.

UPDATE: HAZMAT crews have packaged the envelope and have removed it from the building. It will be tested to determine the nature of the contents.
