ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Members of Four Corners gang and drug law enforcement units are earning praise from Homeland Security Investigations.

The investigative arm of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is scheduled Wednesday to recognize agents with the Region II Task Force Gang Unit and Narcotics Unit for their work in helping out with two massive arrest sweeps last year.

The units, made up of officers from Farmington police, Bloomfield police and the San Juan County Sheriff's Office, helped federal authorities with raids that netted a dozens of convicted gang members and drug traffickers.

Federal authorizes say the units have helped HSI agents with investigations in an isolated region where Mexican drug cartels are increasingly operating. The units will be honored at a special ceremony at the HSI Albuquerque office.
