APS employee accused in child porn case to be fired

The APS Disciplinary Committee met Wednesday and recommended that an educational assistant who was arrested last week on child pornography charges be fired.

Carey Gonzales and her husband, former Albuquerque YAFL president Fredrick Gonzales, were arrested Friday and charged with manufacturing and distributing child pornography.

APS superintendent Winston Brooks approved the committee's recommendation, and as of Thursday Carey Gonzales will no longer be an employee of APS. she has ten days to appeal the decision.
