University of New Mexico officials recommend Lobo fans take a different route to the basketball game Wednesday night at The Pit.

The game is almost sold out and tips off at 6 p.m., but UNM officials said there will be lots of traffic headaches because of construction at the Interstate 25 and Cesar Chavez interchange.

UNM recommended on its athletics facebook page to either take the Lomas or Coal exit off 1-25 south to University or take the Gibson exit off I-25 north to University.

Drivers can still take Cesar Chavez to The Pit but traffic will move slowly and UNM said cars could be taken on long detours to get to The Pit.

The construction on Cesar Chavez is expected to last until at least March 1 and UNM said the construction should ease traffic for fans heading for The Pit and other Lobo events upon completion.
