ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The superintendent of Albuquerque Public Schools is getting a one-year extension on his employment contract.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that the extension approved by the school board Wednesday night means Winston Brooks' contract now runs through June 2016.

Brooks has a three-year rolling contract, so the board considers annually whether to extend it. Brooks has been Albuquerque's school superintendent since 2008.

The contract extension doesn't change his $256,000 annual salary but it says that he gets a raise of the same percentage of any across-the-board raise for teachers.
