Applicants line up for job fair Friday

The resumes are out and hundreds of people were trying to make a good impression Friday afternoon.
Seven employers are looking to hire 250 temporary and permanent call recruiter jobs. Lowe's, MVD Express, Sitel, Lockheed Martin, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint will all be looking to hire.
New Mexico Workforce Connections said a job fair in October with 42 employers landed 400 of the nearly 1000 applicants with a job.
One woman who got to the workforce connections building before it opened Friday said she is seeing more jobs looking to hire.
"Now it seems like there are more jobs to apply to, prior to that, it didn't seem like there was anything to apply to," Leanor Trujillo said.
People can go on jobs.state.nm.us to get applications for the companies hiring.
Maxine Abeyta is a single mom who has been out of work since July. She found out about the job fair Friday morning and ran over to get in line.
"There's a lot of hurting people that aren't lazy and are actually looking to better themselves, and opportunities like this are really awesome," she said.
New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions reported that as of December 31st, nearly 27,000 people are without work in Albuquerque.
The unemployment rating for the city is 6.7% compared to the state's rating of 6.5%.
A man who talked on camera said he has been without work for two years. He is desperate for a job.
"It would mean everything, you know. A lifeline of financial gain that you can build up and support your family and support yourself," Josh Faith said.
