Home raid unveils hundreds of guns

It was a rare sight in a suburban neighborhood, as federal agents loaded up hundreds of handguns, not from a store but instead, from a northeast Albuquerque home. This was part of a major gun investigation that started last week.
"Just a shocking surprise," a man, who asked not to be identified, but knows the homeowner under investigation, said.
The homeowner is identified as Robert Adams.
"All the time that he's been here, he's always been a good person," the neighbor said.
Investigators seized nearly 900 firearms from Adam's home, which is also no more than about 50 yards away from Montezuma Elementary School.
According to search warrants, the haul breaks down to 548 handguns and 317 rifles. Additionally, investigators seized 599 pistols and revolvers from inside a building off Carlisle NE.
"That's an arsenal," Jim Mackenzie, who lives in the area, said.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 stopped by Adams' home to talk to him but got no response.
"Who is associated with him, and the guns, it could be of a concern," Mackenzie said.
Adams is a gun dealer, which may explain why he had so many guns.
He is being investigated for possible gun smuggling, tax evasion and violating importation laws.
Documents show he has been on the feds' radar for years, but at this point, he has not been charged with anything.
