SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The state Supreme Court has upheld the convictions of a Las Cruces man for a 2005 murder at a gasoline station in southern New Mexico.

Kenneth Rauch was sentenced to life in prison for murder and 23 years for other crimes, including attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Eusebio Escobedo was killed when Rauch fired a shotgun at a car parked at a Las Cruces gasoline station. Escobedo's fiancee and her 3-year-old son also were inside the car.

The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously affirmed Rauch's convictions, rejecting arguments there wasn't enough evidence to show that he deliberately intended to kill Escobedo and his fiancee. Rauch contended the shooting was impulsive. He had been drinking and was depressed over the death of one of his sons.
