Kitten found caught in trap

"Watch for traps" is the message Albuquerque Animal Welfare has for people living near Indian School and Rio Grande after a 6-month-old kitten was found with one paw locked into a steel jaw trap.
The woman who found the kitten feeds the cat along with several other strays last week.
"It was pure horror," the woman said, who did not want to be identified. "I've never had to encounter anything so horrible in my life. And to see a defenseless animal like that trapped. It broke my heart."
She called animal welfare and they picked up the kitten. The kitten lost two toes on the one paw. The woman who found the kitten spoke passionately about whomever is responsible for the trap.
"Someone who's vicious - someone who's heartless - someone who has absolutely not one once of feeling in their soul. How can you do that to a live living creature," she said.
The problem is that no one knows where the cat stepped in the trap making it more imperative for people near Indian School and Rio Grande to tread lightly.
"What if a child had gotten caught in the trap," the woman said. "I don't know where these traps are set up. Anybody, somebody could walk along and have their foot caught in a trap."
Animal Welfare said if they catch the person who did this they could face felony animal cruelty charges.
