Watermelon Mountain Ranch workers showed up Thursday morning to find all their dog food gone.

The ranch, located in Rio Rancho, was the victim of an overnight burglary.

Someone broke the lock on the food barn, and stole two weeks-worth of dog food.

Ranch workers posted a message on Facebook asking all their generous friends if they could pitch in. The post received over 600 shares Thursday.

“The outreach and community support has been unbelievable, they've probably donated over 500 pounds of dog food to us in a really short period of time and it's been absolutely fantastic,” the Ranch's Sara Garrigan said.

All the food came within hours.

Watermelon Mountain Ranch shares food with other shelters, and even with pet owners who are struggling.

Ranch workers said had the donations not poured in, workers would have opened up their own wallets to feed the dogs.
