ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An Albuquerque company is donating a plane to the New Mexico State Police.

Police officials say they'll use the two-seat utility plane for a range of missions, including narcotics interdiction and search and rescue.

Pete Dunn of CSI Aviation says the Australian-designed Seeker aircraft that is company is donating will perform the same surveillance missions as a helicopter now used by State Police but at less cost.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, the plane has a cockpit like those of some helicopters and has a pusher-type engine in the back of the fuselage.

Deputy Chief Steve Kassetas says State Police plans to phase out a Cessna turboprop that it now has.
