It sounds like a total meltdown.  A student ended up allegedly locked in a classroom and a teacher, ready to quit.  Friday, KOB Eyewitness News 4 got a hold of new details in a police report about what happened inside a classroom at Rio Rancho Middle School last Thursday.

Police arrested teacher Ken Boyd last week.

Some parents kept their kids home from school after hearing what happened last week, adding they hope Boyd never steps foot in a classroom again.

On any given weekday, parents drop their kids off at Rio Rancho Middle School expecting they will be safe. But it is what they could not see and what police said went on inside Boyd's science class, -that was anything, but safe.

"Everybody was shocked," one parent said.

According to the police report, one of Boyd's students called his mom crying saying he had been "choked and locked in a classroom."  The student told police Boyd sent him in the hallway during class because he was being annoying and he was only let back inside after others were finished taking a test. That is when the two allegedly got into it.

The student said, "Boyd grabbed his sweatshirt collar with one hand, pushing him backward toward a table" and began yelling in his year, "shut up and sit down you idiot."  The student started crying, when Boyd said to the class, "look, he is crying, who is not a big boy now?"

"If he's letting the students get to him, he needs some help," another parent said.

After this first attack, another student shared a similar experience.  He told police, when he asked to change seats in the room, Boyd got angry. According to the report, Boyd "grabbed him by the back of the neck with one hand and began pushing down his neck...forcing him to the ground, nearly causing him to strike his head on a nearby table." This was allegedly in effort to get the student to sit down.

"You think that your son is going to be safe at school and when you get like this that your child's safety was compromised at a school with licensed adults and in their care," a mother of one of the victim's said.

Police arrested Boyd at his home the following Saturday. Repeated attempts by KOB 4 to hear from Boyd on his side of the story were unsuccessful.

Boyd was arrested for child abuse over the weekend and is currently on paid administrative leave.

KOB 4 looked into Boyd's background and learned he used to work for Bernalillo Public Schools. On his application to work for Rio Rancho Middle School, when asked how his students would describe him as a teacher, he wrote, "exciting and energetic with high expectations."
