Former Sunland Park mayor-elect released from jail pending trial

 LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A former Sunland Park mayor-elect has been released from jail pending trial after a judge erased most of his six-figure bond.

District Judge Darren Kugler on Monday granted a motion to reduce Daniel Salinas' bond. Salinas is accused of trying to blackmail a political opponent with a lap-dance video.

He's also accused of corruption charges.

According to television station KTSM , Salinas has been behind bars for the last 10 months.
