City, state holding informational meeting Tuesday on Paseo project

State transportation and Albuquerque city officials are holding a meeting Tuesday where you can voice your opinions on the I-25/Paseo interchange project.
The project aims to alleviate traffic issues at that interchange using a variety of methods. They also want to cut down on crashes, as there are about 470 each year at that interchange.
Some of the plans for the overhaul include a free-flow ramp to improve eastbound-to-southbound traffic movement in morning peak travel times, a flyover ramp to improve the northbound-to-westbound traffic movement in the evening peak travel time and mainline improvements on I-25 between Alamada Boulevard and Jefferson Street.
The mid-region Council of Governments Economic modeling report shows the work will also affect the economy by creating $2.8 billion in net new economic activity from 2013-2031 for ABQ, more than 3,000 jobs within 20 years, and 42.5 million savings in fuel over the next 20 years, taking into account that it will be possible to develop new land and change the area.
Construction will start in September and is expected to be complete in 2015.
People with comments about the plan should attend tonight's public meeting.
The meeting will run from 6:30 p.m to 8 p.m. at the Marriott Courtyard on Journal Central Blvd NE.
