The Mountain West released the future conference football schedule structure.  Because there will be 12 football schools, not every team will play each other every year.

For the next two seasons the Lobos will miss conference games against Hawaii, Nevada and San Jose State.  For the 2013 year, the Lobo football team will have conference home games against Air Force, Colorado State, UNLV and Utah State.  The Lobos will go on the road to play Boise State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Wyoming.

With the new conference alignment, each football team will play eight conference games each season, and will play every Mountain West opponent home-and-away during each four year cycle.

The inaugural Mountain West Football Championship Game will be played December 7, 2013 at the home stadium of the divisional champion with the highest BCS ranking.
