A former Albuquerque Police Department sergeant faced a judge Wednesday on domestic violence and child abuse charges.

Patrick Ficke, who was a nine-year veteran of APD, is accused of beating his wife after getting drunk at a local bar last Sunday.

His wife, who is also a detective with APD, told police she was struck as she tried to stop him from going to work because he was drunk.

This reportedly happened in front of the couple’s young son.

In court Wednesday, a judge continued Ficke’s bond at $20,000 cash-only.

His first hearing is set for March 12.
