We have an update to an investigation you saw Tuesday from our 4 On Your Side team.

The Sierra County Commission has voted to suspend the pay of Sheriff Joe Baca after we found he’s been living in Missouri but still collecting checks for being sheriff.

Baca is serving in the National Guard.

The Sierra County Commission voted to suspend Baca's pay until he returns.

The commission also voted to appoint a temporary sheriff in Baca's place.

The temporary sheriff is Charlie Cox, 78.

He was the sheriff of Sierra County during the 1980s.

He was sworn in Wednesday morning.
