ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Shiprock man has been sentenced to three years in prison and three years of supervised release for an assault conviction.
New Mexico prosecutors say 45-year-old Torvold Kellywood was sentenced Thursday. He has been in federal custody since his arrest on a criminal complaint last May.
He was indicted last June and charged with six offenses from two separate incidents in which he allegedly kicked a woman on the Navajo Nation in December 2011.
Authorities say the victim sustained a four-inch laceration above her eye that required medical attention.
