More than 3,400 residents of Santo Domingo Pueblo got access to trouble-free water Friday as a new water system was installed at the pueblo.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture dedicated the new system Friday.

Felix Tenorio Jr., Governor of the Pueblo of Santo Domingo, was scheduled to open a fire hydrant and let the water flow to signify the construction for the project has been completed.

The project replaces 13,000 feet of 30-year old out-dated water system that was leaking and continually breaking down.

The new transmission lines will offer better water service by providing better pressure and the elimination of contamination.

Also, the new system will make available better fire protection and the elimination of the water line breaks.
