ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Chopper the baby rhino made his debut Saturday at the Albuquerque zoo.

The 15-week-old calf made his first public appearance from 10 a.m. to noon at the zoo's rhino exhibit.

After Saturday, he will be out in the exhibit a few hours each day, but the schedule will vary.

Chopper was named by Facebook fans in remembrance of Jimmy "Chopper" Abalos, a softball and little league leader in the community who died in 2010.

Abalos sponsored multiple little league teams called the "Rhinos." Born at Florida's White Oak Conservation Center on Oct. 30, Chopper wasn't able to establish a strong bond with his mother so he was moved to Albuquerque.
