Carlos Fierro seeks new trial in pedestrian death (read the request)

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A former lobbyist convicted of vehicular homicide for hitting a Santa Fe pedestrian while drunk is seeking a new trial.
The Albuquerque Journal reports Carlos Fierro has filed court documents alleging the jury foreman in his 2009 trial should have been excused because he failed to disclose a criminal charge pending against him.

Fierro was sentenced to seven years for the accident that killed William Tenorio in Santa Fe in November 2008.
But he was paroled last year after earning good time.
Fierro was drunk but said the accident wasn't his fault before Tenorio also had been drinking and wasn't paying attention when he crossed the street in the dark.
Fierro's case drew attention because his passenger was a state police officer and a member of then-Gov. Bill Richardson's security detail.
