Zoning hearing for NE liquor vendor postponed until March

A zoning hearing was scheduled Tuesday for a liquor vendor who is hoping to open up in Northeast Albuquerque. It ended up being postponed because the company hoping to open was not prepared with the proper paperwork.
Western Refinery says it wants to attach a giant store that sells liquor to the Shell property at Lomas and Louisiana NE.
Neighbors from the International District spoke out against the would-be business.
Mayoral candidate Pete Dinelli said he attended the hearing as a concerned neighbor who opposes the vendor.
“Transients quite often go in they buy they're booze they get tanked up and spill into the neighborhood,” Dinelli told KOB. “And we are having a real problem with the area in terms of commercial burglaries and residential burglaries.”
The zoning board hearing will now be postponed until March.
Attendees were asked to bring concrete examples of how the vendor’s presence would or would not hurt the area.
