An Albuquerque Police Department spokesman says APD is investigating whether four supervisors were drinking with an officer in the hours before he allegedly beat his wife.

APD spokesman Robert Gibbs said Internal Affairs target letters have been sent to Comdr. Joe Christman, Lt. Troy Luna, SWAT Sgt. Alexander Catsis and Traffic Unit Sgt. Daniel Campbell.

Last week APD narcotics officer Sgt. Patrick Ficke was charged with beating his wife, also an APD officer, in front of the couple’s children.

Ficke has since resigned from the force.

But the department is still looking into whether any of the four supervisors were drinking and on call that night while allegedly with Ficke at the Marble Brewing Company.

The department also wants to know whether any of the officers drove Ficke home and whether that officer was driving a city car.

Gibbs told KOB that none of the officers are on leave.  Such investigations can last up to 90 days, he said.

Through Gibbs, APD chief Ray Schultz declined comment.
