ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A former Bernalillo County corrections officer in Albuquerque has pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice.

New Mexico prosecutors say 26-year-old Matthew Pendley entered his plea Wednesday.

He admitted to lying to law enforcement during their investigation of an assault on an inmate by another corrections officer on Dec. 21, 2011.

A sentencing date hasn't been scheduled yet.

Pendley was assigned to the Receiving-Discharge-Transfer Unit at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center, where people are brought to be booked soon after they are arrested.
