UNM student senate wants Chick-fil-A out

The UNM student senate voted Thursday to remove the Chick-fil-A from the university's campus.
The vote on the resolution was just merely a symbolic gesture, a UNM spokesperson said, adding the board overseeing the student union building will need to determine whether to accept or reject the student-run governing body’s resolution.
The board maintains a contract with the food service company operating the franchise at the student union building. The board could ask the company to drop Chick-fil-A, a UNM official told KOB Eyewitness News 4.
The student senate is expected to present to the resolution to that board Feb. 27.
UNM students spoke out last summer against the company after its owner opened up about his position against gay marriage.
