Kirtland Air Force Base is already bracing for sequestration cuts should lawmakers fail to come to an agreement to stop federal spending cuts.

Base officials said they've already reviewed contracts to see where cuts can be made.

They told KOB Eyewitness News 4 they would result in employee furloughs, less flight time and fewer training courses. And flying hours could be reduced by as much as 18 percent across the entire air force.
