Three dogs attack another in Friday afternoon attack

A bloody attack had a southeast Albuquerque man up in arms Friday after his dog was attacked by three others near Broadway and Avenida Cesar Chavez.
Three large dogs got out of the backyard of one house and went straight for the neck of a smaller dog that lived next door, police said. Blood-stained fur on the barking dogs made it obvious what had just happened.
"I had to sit there and fight the mother f------- three dogs by myself," the victimized dog's owner, who asked not to be identified, said.
Armed with a machete, the man said his neighbor's dogs went after his beloved 12-year-old dog, Pudge, early Friday afternoon.
"He was all torn, all his fur torn in here and down his legs - he's hurt," Ina Webb said of her son's injured dog.
After repeated complaints of the neighbor's dogs running loose, Webb said her son feared this would eventually happen.
"And he's a good dog," Webb added.
The dogs scratched and chewed the front side of Pudge like a piece of rawhide.
"Any animal with teeth bites, and when it comes to pit bulls, every body has a perception about them," Lt. Earl Baca, with animal control, said.
Officers shot one of the dogs to get him off of Pudge. All three were taken into custody.
"It just surprise me," Mon Trosie said of the behavior of his nephew's dogs. "Whenever I came he always had the dogs, it seem like under control."
Problem was, her nephew was not even home Friday when the dogs got loose. Trosie said he is in jail for unrelated charges, but added he had no business letting the dogs have the run of the house.
"I don't know what to say, except, I'm sorry," Trosie said.
In addition to the three dogs taken into custody, officers took six puppies that were also found at the home.
Pudge is being treated at a local veterinary clinic.
