undefinedElderly people, especially those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, need wide walkways that are free of obstructions, and good lighting. In order to prevent trip-and-fall injuries, remove area rugs and objects on the floor (like decorative urns) that an elderly person could trip on. Another idea, which comes from Houston electrician Trim Electric, is to install sensor floor lighting. Sensor floor lighting is lights that are installed close to the floor, which are motion activated. It is an alternative to leaving the lights on all night in case the elderly person needs to get up in the middle of the night.
