Mystery surrounds hit-and-run death of UNM student

Investigators have very little to go on in the hit-and-run death of a University of New Mexico art student.
Twenty year old Jennifer Bobrick of Santa Fe was hit and killed as she walked along the interstate early Saturday.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 found a quote recently written by Jennifer on a website in honor of her which read, “Just making sure that I’m not wasting one second of the little time I have.”
“Very smiley and very attentive and laughed at all my jokes. So yeah, it was very shocking,” said Jennifer’s professor, Kristin Heineman. The last time Heineman saw Jennifer was this past Thursday, just two days before she was killed.
“I remember her handing in her paper and said, you know, have a nice weekend and so yeah, she just seemed chipper and her lovely self,” said Heineman.
Investigators hoped a traffic camera along Interstate 40 near Carnuel caught the fatal hit-and-run but it didn’t. Jennifer’s car was found crashed into a boulder on Frontage Road. Investigators think she got out and walked along I-40.
“I’m sure her family is just devastated by it and the fact that, you know, no one can be held accountable for it just adds that much more grief to an already horrible situation,” added Heineman.
Police said the car allegedly involved is believed to have front end damage and a broken amber light.
KOB called Jennifer’s family to find out more about her. They declined to comment.
Services for her begin Thursday in Santa Fe.
