Citizens and trade unions continue their fight in court this week trying to get millions of dollars back for the University of New Mexico.

A trial in Santa Fe hinges around allegations that former UNM President David Schmidly’s administration rigged bids on The Pit’s recent renovation so that his favorite company could get the job.

The suit states the company defrauded taxpayers by up-charging the cost of the makeover by nearly $16 million.

A jury is expected to deliver a verdict early next week.
