Lovelace Westside Hospital is now more kid-friendly.

A renovated emergency department opened Friday.

There's now four private exam rooms created especially for children under 17.

There's a penguin theme designed on the walls, along with flat screen TVs in the waiting area, even chalkboards and toys.

The idea is to make the kids feel at ease while they're there.

Farron Sneed, the CEO of Lovelace Westside said, "It makes the experience a little easier for the parents too, where their kids aren't anticipating what's going on with their illness and seeing a doctor."

The renovation took three months to complete.
