A Santa Fe dealership is selling an old cop car that is still fully equipped with all the gear.

The 2006 Crown Victoria still has the siren, lights, dash camera, and cage.  It is being sold at the Santa Fe Mazda Volvo dealership for about $13,000.  It is completely legal to sell the car, but the buyers can't use the siren and lights on the streets.

The owner of the dealership, Jud Careswell, says he bought it at an auction back East, and has seen a lot of interest from security companies.  Careswell said that is who he would like to see the car go to.

"We are watching who we sell it to," Careswell said.

But Capt. Aric Wheeler with Santa Fe Police said they don't like the idea of just anyone being able to drive a car that looks a lot like theirs.

"Obviously this causes great concern for us as a law enforcement agency. We don't want individuals that are under the perception that somebody is a law enforcement officer when they're not a law enforcement officer," Wheeler said.

Wheeler says if you are concerned about who is pulling you over, make sure you stop in a well-lit area with a lot of people around. He also said to make sure it is a uniformed officer with a badge who approaches your vehicle.
