Closing statements are now underway in a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Albuquerque.
Plaintiff's attorneys argue that the defendants have lied and the plaintiffs have showed the jury the truth. They argued that Ellis died a death alone with pain and suffering.
Attorneys for the city are reminding the jury to be fair and reasonable with the amount they choose to award.
The case refers to the 2010 shooting of Iraq war veteran Kenneth Ellis III by APD Officer Brett Lampiris-Tremba. The shooting has already been ruled unlawful by District Court Judge Shannon Bacon. Now a jury will award damages to Ellis' 7-year-old son based on the worth of Ellis' life.
Statements just began within the hour; KOB Eyewitness News 4 will bring you full coverage at 5, 6 and 6:30.
