Lobos win MW tournament against UNLV, 63-56

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Tony Snell scored 17, including five 3-pointers, to lead No. 15 New Mexico past San Diego State 60-50 in the semifinal round of the Mountain West Conference tournament Friday night.
Top-seeded New Mexico will defend its tournament title on Saturday.
Also for the Lobos (28-5), Cameron Bairstow added 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Alex Kirk had 15 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks.
Xavier Thames and Chase Tapley each led San Diego State with 14 points apiece.
The Lobos used a 24-4 run that lasted from late first half into early second half. The teams played in front of a sellout crowd that including an estimated 6,000 raucous New Mexico fans at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Lobos will play UNLV in the tournament championship game.
Katin Reinhardt scored a career-high 21 points Friday night to lead UNLV to a 75-65 victory over Colorado State in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament.
The third-seeded Runnin' Rebels (25-8) advance to Saturday's championship game, where they'll meet top-seeded New Mexico, a 60-50 winner over San Diego State, with an automatic NCAA tournament bid on the line.
Reinhardt scored 16 of his points in the first half, when he was 4 of 5 from 3-point range.
The Rebels are now 8-4 all-time in the semifinals of the Mountain West tournament, and they improved to 3-1 against Colorado State in the event.
Reinhardt was one of three Rebels to score in double figures, as Anthony Bennett scored 19 and Anthony Marshall added 12. The Rams (25-8), who were seeded second in the tournament, were led by Colton Iverson, who had 24 points.
