nullThe bill that would create restrictions on gun show sales failed to pass the legislature before the session ended on Saturday.

The measure would have required criminal background checks for private sales of firearms at gun shows.

The state senate debated the measure and amended the bill right up until the noon deadline.

Opponents of the bill stated that backgrounds checks would not stop gun violence, but supporters said it would have been a step forward to create safer gun ownership.
