NM school bus driver sentenced in sex abuse case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico school bus driver has been sentenced to 16 years in prison in a sex abuse case.
Federal prosecutors say 56-year-old Samuel Jackson of Shiprock was sentenced Monday for his abusive sexual contact conviction.
They say Jackson will be on supervised release for five years after he completes his prison term and be required to register as a sex offender.
Jackson pleaded guilty to the abusive sexual contact charge last July.
He admitted to sexually assaulting a Navajo child under the age of 16 at a residence in Shiprock on Aug. 5, 2011.
Jackson was arrested in January 2012.
At the time of the offense, authorities say Jackson was employed as a back-up bus driver at the Shiprock division of the Central Consolidated School District No. 22.
