ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Pojoaque Pueblo woman has pleaded guilty to a child abandonment charge.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Alma Garcia entered her plea Friday in federal court in Albuquerque.

They say Garcia was accused of abandoning her young child in 2010 and the child may have suffered neglect.

She admitted in court that she intentionally left her infant in the custody of another Pojoaque Pueblo resident who neglected the child.

Prosecutors say Garcia was released under pretrial supervision pending her sentencing hearing, which has yet to be scheduled.

They say she faces up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
