The Good Friday Tome Hill tradition is in full-force between Los Lunas and Belen.
It's a centuries-old walk that's picked up in the past years; thousands will hike to the top of Tome Hill to make penance and to pray near three crosses.
A few early-bird walkers started making their way up Tome Hill around 4:00 am Friday morning, but started to pick up around 6:30 a.m.
People will be walking throughout the day, and organizers have planned out water, bathrooms and medical accommodations.
As for parking, Tome Hill Road will be blocked off from NM 47 to the base of the hill; people should park at the Tome Community Center, Albertson's grocery store and the UNM Valencia Campus. There will be water at Valley Lutheran Church and from private volunteers.
Bathrooms are open at Valley Lutheran, the Center for Ageless Living, and at the base. Organizers suggest you bring extra toilet paper if using the portable bathrooms at the base.
They will also have medical rescue tents and emergency personnel on-site.
