KOB Eyewitness News 4 has obtained video of the March 17 shooting of an APD officer.

Officer Ignas Danius was hit when he was interviewing a woman.

Days later, a New Mexico State Police  sniper shot and killed the suspected shooter, Kendall Carroll, after a multi-agency SWAT situation.

On the video, you can see Officer Danius as he is talking to the woman. Suddenly, you can hear gunshots and see the officer falling to the ground, saying he was hit.

“I was hit by something,” he says, over and over again. Then he says, “My legs…my legs…are feeling numb.”

When the officer was shot, he also pulled down the woman he was interviewing.

Chief Schultz said Officer Danius has finished physical therapy and is doing well and looking forward to returning to work.

Police say the gun they believe Kendall Carroll used to shoot Officer Danius is the same he brandished during the standoff later, when he was killed by police.
