New problems with the Torrance County Manager. A 4 On Your Side investigation broke the scandal involving Joy Ansley allegedly funneling thousands of dollars in county work to one contractor. Now, Ansley and that contractor are both facing almost a dozen felony charges.
There has been an on-going state audit into Joy Ansley's actions, and now, felony charges have been filed against her and contractor Chris Valdez.
Ansley and Valdez are each facing 10 felony charges - all dating back to 2007 and 2008. This includes four charges for fraud over $20,000; five charges for making or permitting false public vouchers, and one for conspiracy.
As part of the 4 On Your Side investigation, our team looked at dozens of county contracts and found many of them went to Valdez. He has done more than three quarters of a million dollars in government work in the past five years.
Just a few days ago, Ansley offered to resign after learning the Attorney General's office may file charges. Commissioners maintain they are not taking any action until the case is resolved.
