FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico motorist arrested after deputies say he struck a patrol car and led authorities on a high-speed chase is now facing his 7th drunken driving charge.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office says Brian Watchman was arrested early Wednesday following a bizarre chain of events.

According to authorities, deputies saw the 36-year-old Fruitland resident miss a parking lot entrance in Farmington, then side-wiped a patrol vehicle when deputies tried to stop him.

Deputies say Watchman then drove away on the wrong side of the road "in excess of 100 miles per hour."

He was eventually stopped and arrested. Watchman is facing a number of charges, including aggravated DWI and aggravated battery on a peace officer with a deadly weapon.

It was unclear if he had an attorney.
