A wildfire is currently burning up to 200 acres in Lincoln National Forest.

The fire is located two and a half miles southwest of Mayhill, near Curtis Canyon.

Firefighters have been successful in keeping the fire from spreading across Highway 130.  They are focusing their efforts on the northern flank. Containment is at ten percent.

Cooler temperatures and a decrease in winds is helping with the firefighting efforts.

Approximately 20 homes in the Curtis Canyon Dam have been evacuated. A shelter has been set up in the Village of Cloudcroft.
