ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Los Lunas woman has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Federal prosecutors say 36-year-old Sandra Rivas received a 42-month prison term Thursday followed by three years of supervised release. She also must pay more than $14,000 restitution to victims.
Rivas was indicted last May and pleaded guilty in November.
Prosecutors say Rivas was a receptionist by a Valencia County business and was responsible for accepting payments from clients.
She was accused of altering information on 11 checks payable to her employer and depositing them into her personal bank account between March and July 2011.
Rivas also allegedly make fraudulent online purchases by using the credit card information belonging to her employer's clients at least 19 times.
